Vine Withers Thanks To Stiff Competition From Snapchat And Instagram

This month makes it four years since Twitter acquired vine for $30 million. Twitter revealed on a blog post on Medium that it will shut down the looping video app in the coming weeks.

Users will still be able to download and access their Vines, the website will remain online and users will be notified of any changes to the app or website. It is hard to say how much longer the videos will live for on the internet but, users can no longer create vines.
Vine will be remembered as a revolutionary app in the history of user generated video content. It would have reigned undisturbed had it not been for Instagram’s introduction of video posts in 2013. This move by Instagram was in a bid to compete with snapchat and appeal to the younger generation.
