The newly elected president of the Association of Mobile Money and Banking Agents in Nigeria (AMMBAN) Fasasi Sarafadeen Atanda, has stated the Association’s commitment to initiatives geared at growing the payment industry under the current government.

Atanda made the call while addressing a press conference held at the AMMBAN Lagos corporate headquarters during his inauguration.

While stressing on the Association’s objectives and challenges, he stated that the financial services Agents in Nigeria include the Banking Agents, POS Agents, NIN Agents, BVN Agents, Agric Extension Agents, Micro insurance Agents and Micro pension Agents. The AMMBAN President used the platform, which was well attended by major stakeholders from various states and locations, to appreciate the outgoing executives for laying a good foundation for his team to trod on.

Further echoing the words of President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Atanda said: “Don’t pity our situation; we have no excuse not to deliver and to take AMMBAN to greater heights.”

However, he equally stated that one of the major objectives of AMMBAN is to grow the payment industry and promote sanity in the system.

To actualise this vision, he vowed to collaborate with the security Agencies, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), service providers, and other relevant stakeholders, to among other targets, create 500,000 jobs in Nigeria in the first quarter of the year 2024, flag off a task force, launch a police VGS intelligence and launch a support Desk.
