… Extends XTERNS Facility To Qualified 3MTT Trainees
Fast-rising technology hub and digital skills training platform, darey.io is set to open a physical technology hub in Lagos.
Darey.io, which has operated since 2021 as a virtual office, training youths within and outside the country via its remote and digital platform, is designed to drive digital transformation, foster collaboration, and provide startups, businesses, and individuals with AI-driven solutions and workforce development programs, through its arms – darey.io and XTERNS.
Speaking at the pre-launch media parley on Wednesday, Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Darey.io, Dare Olufunmilayo, disclosed that the platform need to bridge the gap of up-skilling, re-skilling, need for increased digital skills and creating viable opportunities in all sectors of the economy.
He posited that there are increasing needs for digital skills in healthcare, education, transportation, manufacturing, and management, among other sectors.
Darey.io, he noted, seeks to provide a platform where these skills will be acquired, while XTERNS will provide a platform for adequately skilled professionals to showcase their talent to the world.
Further speaking on the partnership between darey.io and the federal government, Olufunmilayo said the tech platform is supporting the three million technical training (3MTT) initiative of the federal government, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
The company is leveraging its technology to drive the 3MTT initiative, ensuring accessible, free and evaluable training.
He noted that recruitment companies are more about competences, skills and experiences, rather than certifications prioritization.
He detailed that the darey.io platform has expanded its course offerings from its initial focus on DevOps and Cloud Computing to include data science, cybersecurity, product management, and AI for various industries.
The XTERNS platform addresses the need for practical experience, allowing individuals to build a digital portfolio and demonstrate their skills to potential employers. This platform enables users to track their skills to a granular level, showcasing their proficiency and project experience.
Olufunmilayo extended an invitation to individuals from all training backgrounds to join the XTERNS platform and gain valuable industry experience. He disclosed that trainees from the 3MTT initiative will also have access to the platform after evaluation of their competences.
In his submission, Head of Growth & Marketing Operations, Priscilla Otukoya reiterated that the platform’s digital framework allows for strict controls and assessments. “Those who do not meet the required career score are not recommended to employers, ensuring that only serious and qualified candidates are presented”, she said, adding that access will be removed for people who are not properly engaged with the platform, despite it being free.
Olufunmilayo encouraged Nigerians, particularly those not enrolled in the 3MTT initiative, to visit their Yaba office and utilize the training facilities and digital resources.
He however called on the private sector investors to bridge the challenge being faced by enrollees of the 3MTT initiative. These challenges, he said borders of infrastructure and tools that include, laptops and access to internet.
