The Emir, whose strategic visit to GBB’s state-of-the-art Tier IV Data Centre in Kano, highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to harnessing ICT as a driving force for national development, toured key facilities at Galaxy Backbone, including the Network Operations Centre (NOC), the Conference Room, the Training Room, and the renowned Tier IV Data Centre. The tour gave His Highness a firsthand view of the company’s extensive ICT infrastructure, designed to support Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts.
Commending Galaxy Backbone’s initiatives and stressing the importance of ICT in transforming Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape, particularly in the northern region, Emir Sanusi II said: “With its youthful population, the North stands to gain immensely from these efforts,” the Emir noted. “By maximizing the resources and opportunities provided by Galaxy Backbone, we can address youth unemployment, promote social stability, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.”
Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju had, in virtual meeting with the Emir, emphasised the company’s pivotal role in enabling the Federal Government to fully leverage ICT infrastructure to engage the youth across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“Our mission extends beyond providing ICT solutions for government ministries, departments, and agencies. We are now focused on empowering the younger generation by equipping them with ICT tools and training that can enhance their skills, create employment, and drive national development,” Professor Adeyanju stated. “Our goal is to bridge the digital divide and foster a more inclusive digital economy.”
The Emir also highlighted the critical role of education and skills development in empowering the youth and creating pathways to meaningful employment. He urged both public and private sector players to collaborate on initiatives that harness technology to unlock the potential of Nigeria’s youth.

The delegation sought the Emir’s support in launching youth-focused ICT initiatives.
