The Media & Digital Skills Centre Nigeria has launched the ‘Support Coding Education Initiatives’ for Public schools.

A Statement released by the Managing Director of the Centre, Engr. (Dr.) Ajibola Abiola noted that Coding has been recognised as the foundational and most creative knowledge in the World today, which has birthed Operating Systems – Android/IOS, Robots, Drones, Artificial Intelligence, Apps, and all Smart Devices.

According to him, “We are living in an Era where all the aforementioned technologies are changing the global landscape in a multidimensional way. Right now, we cannot afford to leave our Children behind”

He affirmed this is why the Federal Government of Nigeria has recently decided to integrate coding as a subject into the school Curriculum.

Engr. Abiola, however, declared that the government may not be able to provide all the necessary materials and facilities required to kick-start the programme, especially in Public Schools.

He therefore called on well-meaning individuals, especially Old Students’ Associations, to sponsor Unique Coding Books (Levels 1-5) & the corresponding Teacher’s Guide for their Alma mater, so that instruction can take off in earnest.

He requested interested Old Students to call and discuss with the Centre on how to leave footprints in their former schools by getting copies of the Unique Coding Books for the current set of students.
