The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, to boost digital transformation among Nigerian businesses.
The MoU was signed on the sideline of GITEX NIGERIA 2026, which was held in Abuja and Lagos from August 31 to September 3, bringing together government agencies, technology companies, investors and start-ups to advance Nigeria’s digital economy.
According to the partners, the MoU is expected to strengthen collaboration between NITDA and the organised private sector, with a focus on promoting the adoption of digital technologies, improving business efficiency and supporting the growth of enterprises.
It also builds on existing efforts by both organisations to integrate digital infrastructure into Nigeria’s economic development.
NITDA has previously said it is working with NACCIMA to digitise its infrastructure and support public-private partnerships in the digital space.
The collaboration comes as the Federal Government enhances its efforts to position technology, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure as key drivers of economic growth and industrialisation. GITEX Nigeria 2026 was themed “Beyond Connectivity: The Bridge to Sovereign AI and Innovation.”
The MoU is expected to provide a stronger framework for businesses to leverage digital tools and technologies while contributing to the expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy.
“The partnership establishes a framework for developing a collaborative ecosystem that promotes technology adoption, digital innovation and capacity development, with particular focus on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the wider business community,” NITDA said.
The collaboration reinforces NITDA’s commitment to working with the private sector and other stakeholders to accelerate Nigeria’s transition into a digitally enabled, innovative and globally competitive economy.
