The important role of cryptocurrency in enabling a rounded Cloud business and digital economy, will be the thrust of Cyberchain 2021. This was disclosed at a media forum by the organisers of Cyberchain 2021, a cryptocurrency awareness and empowerment engagement in its third season.
The two-day event with the theme “Enabling the Digital Economy”, will hold on November 19- 20, 2021 at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, and will engender discussion around Cybersecurity, Fintech, eSports, RegTech, and Blockchain ecosystems.
According to the Convener, Jude Ozinegbe, who stressed on how much the Covid-19 pandemic has pressured businesses to move online, key participants at the Cyberchain 2021 event will share deep insights and leading trends to help the country get up to speed with industry’s best practices, with regards to Cryptocurrency adoption, regulation and education.
Ozinegbe noted that Nigerians are yet to realise the full benefits of crypto exchange and how it can curb incidences of cybersecurity breach.
The event will also encourage financial technology (Fintech) startups while x-raying issues around Non-Fungible Token (NFT), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), GameFi, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), Crypto Regulation, Smart Contract, several Blockchain Use Cases, Cybersecurity Hackathon, panel sessions, exhibitions, book launch, Awards, among others.
The Cyberchain 2021 Conference, Ozinegbe elucidated, will be a rallying point for decision makers in the digital currency field to chart a new frontier in the bid to tackle the future today.
He said: “As you know, Blockchain is the leading technology world over, with related fields like Digital Currencies and Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). To be a leader in this field, you need to take a step further to understand the technology at a professional level. And that is what Cyberchain 2021 will try to deepen.”
A lot is expected at Cyberchain 2021. DeFis and NFTs have filled the ecosystem, regulators have woken up, builders and creators are getting smarter, users are demanding more, dip buyers are getting “dipper” and everyone wants to stay safe and keep their digital assets secure. So it’s time we came together again and do what we do best – harmonize Cybersecurity and Blockchain.”
Also speaking at the media forum, Chairman, Lagos State e-Sports Association, Emmanuel Oyelakin spoke about the place of eSports in the growth of the Digital Economy and why the Association is participating in the Cyberchain 2021 Conference, noting that it aims to use the Conference to expose the youths and equip them with skills relevant in the e-sports and gaming ecosystem as well as in digital technology. “There is a need to explore that space,” he concluded.
Founder and CEO, TradeFada, a Cryptocurrency exchange platform, Seun Dania noted that the conference will enable the company to demystify cryptocurrency business while ensuring security of investment.
The Cyberchain 2021 Conference supported by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Digital Encode, TradeFada, UNIC, BINANCE, Cybersafe, Convexity, Blockchain Nigeria Group and Lagos State ESports Association among others, expects to gather up to 2000 participants.
As a major part of the conference, Cyberchain will announce winners of the Cyberthon, Nigeria’s national cybersecurity Hackathon. The competition, which ran between October 1-3, focused on Capture The Flag (CTF) with winners carting home cash and product prizes.
Sponsored by Digital Encode and Zinochrom, the Cyberthon was instituted to encourage junior software developers and programmers to see the viability in cybersecurity and cryptocurrency engagement, and discourage unethical hacking, which is the bane of any economy. “We want to warehouse the startups, and also encourage the ones who are not involved in fraudulent cyber activities. We are trying to take them off the streets. It is like a hack-for-good competition,” he surmised.
The Cyberthon will attract cash prizes of US$1,000 for the overall winner; US$500 for the second-place winner; and US$300 for the third paced winner, while the fourth and fifth-placed will go home with Smartphones as consolation prizes.
