The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has published regulatory instruments that will guide the award of Frequency Spectrum and determination of Annual Operating Levy (AOL) and their regulations.
The regulatory instrument in the form of a notice for Public Inquiries on Drafts of Annual Operating Levy and Frequency Spectrum (Fees & Pricing, among others) Regulations has been scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 29, 2021.
In the announcement published on the Commission’s website and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, the NCC invited stakeholders’ comments that will determine the amendment of both documents.
The statement read in part: “In accordance with section 57 of the Act, Public Inquiries in respect of the above draft regulatory instruments have been scheduled to hold virtually at 11.00am on the date stated.
Interested stakeholders are by this notice invited to make written submissions on the subject and participate in the Public Inquiries. Details of the virtual meeting will be forwarded to interested attendees prior to the Public Inquiries.”
It further noted that the notice supersedes the earlier notice issued in this regard, and all submissions must reach the Commission on or before Monday, July 19, 2021.
The Commission had in 2013 made a draft after convening a stakeholders’ meeting to gather inputs. This amendment of both documents is to consider and incorporate present realities into the regulatory instruments.
