Public Sabotage Challenging Our AI Registration Portal – CAC

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a public notice condemning deliberate attempts by some individuals to undermine its new Intelligent Company Registration Portal (iCRP). The notice reveals that certain users are intentionally bypassing the AI-driven system’s smart features during the registration process to discredit it.

The iCRP was introduced to streamline and accelerate company registration, tackling a backlog of over 7,000 applications. While the initial deployment was hailed as a significant step toward modernizing Nigeria’s business environment, the CAC’s recent statement highlights a new challenge: user manipulation.

According to the public notice, the iCRP is an AI-driven system that learns, adapts, and evolves with every interaction. This means its efficiency and intuitiveness will improve over time, leading to faster and more compliant company registrations. The Commission is calling on the public to resist those who are actively trying to manipulate the system.

The public notice emphasized that while the Commission values genuine feedback, it will not tolerate attempts to undermine a system designed to benefit all entrepreneurs, urging users not to fall for those intentionally trying to manipulate the process just to undermine progress. The CAC is also encouraging users to send feedback and complaints to a dedicated email address, icrpfeedback@cac.gov.ng, to help with the system’s fine-tuning.

This development comes as the CAC works to clear a massive backlog and improve its service delivery. The iCRP, with its capabilities for accelerated compliance checks, streamlined registry tasks, and enhanced customer service, is seen as a crucial tool for promoting ease of doing business in Nigeria. However, the recent notice shows that the transition to a fully digital, AI-powered system is facing resistance from individuals seeking to exploit or discredit the new technology.

The CAC’s public plea underscores the importance of public cooperation in making the new system a success. It reinforces that the portal’s ability to deliver “unmatched ease, speed, and compliance” depends not only on its technology but also on the good faith of its users.
