Meta, WhatsApp parent company has announced new features that will allow users of the messaging App to share their screen while making video calls, among other features.
Announcing the new features on Facebook, founder, Mark Zuckerberg said: “We’re adding the ability to share your screen during a video call on WhatsApp.
Whether sharing documents for work, browsing photos with family, planning a vacation or shopping online with friends, or just helping grandparents with tech support – screen sharing lets you share a live view of your screen during the call. You can initiate screen sharing by clicking on the ‘Share’ Icon and choosing between sharing a specific application or sharing the entire screen.”
The new features also include those that will enable users to enjoy video calls in Landscape mode for a wider and more immersive viewing and sharing experience on the phone.

Users can choose if they wish to share a specific app or their entire screen. In addition, WhatsApp users can now take video calls in landscape mode.
The feature was initially available to beta testers and is now being rolled out to users worldwide across different operating systems.
WhatsApp’s plans to become a force to be reckoned with in the sphere of video conferencing are now taking shape.
The interface of the feature as shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, looks similar to Zoom and Google Meet. To share the screen, press the arrow icon that shows the “share” option that should be visible to WhatsApp users soon.
Recently, WhatsApp also announced a short video message feature that lets users send video messages on the platform. Tapping the mic icon changes it into a video, after which users can send a video message of up to 60 seconds.
